Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a person with 20 gold bars at Putkhali in Jashore.

The arrestee is identified as Hridoy Hossain, son of Md Rezaul Islam hailing from Kagaj Pukur village under Benapole.

Lt Col Tanvir Rahman, commander of 21 BGB Battalion, confirmed the arrest and recovery of gold on Saturday.

He said Hridoy Hossain was arrested from near Putkhali border area along with 20 gold bars weighing 2.333kg worth Tk 2,00,63,800.

BGB had prior information that gold was going to be smuggled into India through Putkhali border.

Accordingly, members of BGB of Putkhali BOP conducted a search near Mohisakura bridge and arrested Hridoy.

During interrogation, the arrestee admitted to have plan to smuggle the gold bars into India.
